Erik Backhaus (Product Manager – Service Station Hardware) started with the Defender Series™ overfill prevention valve (OPV). “The whole idea behind this product is to have one valve for all fuels and all locations around the world,” Erik commented. The Defender Series™ OPV is fully compatible with gas, gas/alcohol blends, diesel and biodiesel and features a remote testing tool which allows for remote testing without having to remove the OPV from the riser.

Allan Busch, (Product Manager, Global Pipe and Containment Systems) introduced the new upcoming AdBlue® / DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) recirculation system. “At the moment the industry uses various solutions for DEF because it is newer to the world. So you use products such as a heat trace product, which wraps around the pipe to keep the pipe temperature warm because AdBlue® freezes at negative twelve point two degrees Farenheit,” Busch explained. The new AdBlue® / DEF circulation system avoids the need to use a heat trace system, instead using a temperature sensor which interfaces with the tank gauge to circulate the DEF product when it gets too cold, preventing freezing.

Gary Saltz (Product Manager, Pipe and Containment Systems) discussed the APT™ watertight rigid entry boot. “What is different about it is that it only requires one hole to be drilled to be installed, so it is a huge reduction in labor costs”, Gary said. The elimination of rubber in the containment area allows a watertight seal to either a poly or fiberglass surface.

Leon Schuster (Senior Product Manager, Submersible Pumping Systems) talked about the new upcoming FE Petro™ advanced protection submersible pump for use in biofuel applications. “[It] is an option for standard pumps, and it is trying to combat the microbial activity that we are seeing in the tank”, Leon explained. The new submersible pump option will feature a full stainless steel construction with special e-coated manifold to prevent the corrosion that biofuels can cause.

Casey Benhart (Product Manager, Fuel Management Systems) described the TS-550 evo™ fuel management system as our ‘top of the line’ tank gauge with some powerful new features coming soon with the next software update. “We have some features that we added,” Casey described, “like the improved setup process, as well as expanded capabilities.” The installation and programming functions have been enhanced to make them easier and faster than before. Expanded functionality has also been added to better support DEF/AdBlue® systems and generator applications.

Jeff Strey (Product Manager, Dispensing Systems) concluded the interview with the OMNI series vapor recovery nozzle. “We are bringing to the industry a nozzle that has some familiarity with the form and the feel, the look of the nozzle. However inside the nozzle is radically different," Jeff explained. The OMNI nozzle features a revolutionary new design with enhanced safety features and a modular interior construction that makes servicing faster and easier.
