'No Leak' sump installations tested by SAMD

19/08/2014

Pass Test confirms tank and sump tightness.Southern Africa Master Distributors (SAMD) personnel recently put Franklin Fueling Systems UPP™ brand OCH tank chambers to the test to prove that they are really 100% leak tight.
Using vacuum test kits which confirm tank-sump tightness, SAMD tested the Optimum Fusion chambers in a six-tank installation that required the tank sumps to hold a vacuum for a test period of seven minutes to pass the tightness test. All six tanks passed.
The two-piece Optimum Fusion chambers used at this installation (available in shallow and deep bury options) utilise the electrofusion welding process to permanently bond the two halves of the chamber together. This eliminates the need for multiple bolt holes and foam gaskets between the riser section and the base, eliminating potential leak paths.
Once welded and cooled the base and riser of the OCH become one homogeneous unit, with no mechanical joints and no leak points. The chamber can then be vacuum tested to ensure that it is 100% leak-tight. This allows complete confidence that installations conform to environmental standards.
