INCON, Intelligent Controls, Inc. is a leading developer, manufacturer and marketer of intelligent on-line monitors (IED’s) for the Power Utility, Hydroelectric and Industrial markets. Founded in February of 1978, INCON began as an electronic engineering consulting firm. A year later, the company expanded its focus to include systems engineering, and soon thereafter, INCON began developing and manufacturing its own products.
INCON’s first product developed for the power utility industry was a load tap position monitor for electrical transformers. This product was designed to help prevent overload by ensuring that load tap changers moved to the required taps as directed by the operator. Years later, INCON introduced a programmable load tap position monitor – the Model 1250 – which combined its existing experience in tap position monitoring with “intelligent” microprocessor technology.
To help predict maintenance intervals and to avoid premature maintenance or catastrophic failures, the OPTImizer power circuit breaker monitor was introduced to the power utility market in 1995. The OPTImizer featured continuous monitoring of wear and operation of the power circuit breakers. INCON continued to incorporate new technology and introduce the OPTImizer+. The OPTImizer+ provides continuous monitoring of wear and operation of power circuit breakers to help predict optimum maintenance intervals and to avoid premature maintenance or catastrophic failures. The OPTImizer+ has breaker status and alarm indicators, complete data history of breaker operations, and enhanced communications capabilities for remote monitoring.
INCON continues to serve its customers with easy-to-use electronic instrumentation to provide end users with relevant operating information. Our current product line includes transformer load tap changer monitors, including the NEW 1250-LTC tap changer maintenance monitor, an on-line wear and condition monitor for Electrical Power Circuit Breakers and a group of precision programmable panel instruments used to indicate mechanical position or liquid level in many hydroelectric and industrial control systems.
In 2002 INCON was acquired by Franklin Fueling Systems. Franklin Fueling Systems is a wholly owned subsidiary of Franklin Electric in Bluffton, Indiana.
