The OPTImizer+ continuously monitors circuit breaker wear and condition using patented technology. It indicates status, triggers alarms, and provides a history of breaker operating data. It interfaces with virtually any breaker in retrofit or new installations. With Optimizer+ intelligence you can:

  • Postpone Scheduled Maintenance and be confi dent that a breaker is operating satisfactorily and has not exceeded its wear limits.
  • Perform Just-In-Time (JIT) Maintenancewhen breaker impending misoperation or failure is indicated.
  • Support a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Program with information continuously in real time.

The OPTImizer+ monitors and trends three critical circuit breaker operating parameters:

  1. Mechanism Time – By timing the interval between the trip command the opening of the “52a” contact, and the closing of the “52b” contact, changes in operating characteristics of the trip coil mechanism, latch, and mechanical components are recorded and alarmed.
  2. Arc Duration Time – By timing the interval from initial main contact separation to arc extinction, problems within the arc chamber are recorded. Arc restrikes are also recorded and alarmed.
  3. Contact Interrupting Duty – By accumulating the I2T duty of the main contacts, erosion of the main contacts is recorded.

  • By monitoring line currents during trip operations, the Optimizer+ can record line, feeder, and transformer through-fault information, including date, time, magnitude, and duration, all on a perphase basis.   • While digital protective relays offer breaker wear and condition monitoring features, the information is often inaccurate, incomplete, or inaccessible. The OPTImizer+ supplies information, with easy access for quick anaylysis.
  • Expensive monitors include connections that can affect breaker operating reliability, increase cost for maintenance, software training and data analysis. The OPTImizer+ is non-intrusive, requires no maintenance, and is easy to use, all at lower cost.
